Artist Statement
Greg Scalamogna grew up in Toronto and studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design. He attended OCAD Toronto for the first three years and completed the fourth year of his degree at the off campus program in Florence, Italy.
Upon completion of the OCAD program in Florence in 1990, Greg travelled and exhibited extensively in Europe and North Africa for the next four years. In 1994 Greg returned to Ontario Canada for a brief period before venturing west to majestic Rocky Mountains of Banff and Canmore Alberta. Western Canada was extremely inspiring to Greg and it wasn’t long before his passion for fishing and wilderness drew him to the Pacific Ocean, and a new home in the area Vancouver British Columbia.
Gregorio’s art is predominantly inspired by human nature in the natural world, and he continually strives to evoke and portray passion in his paintings. He loves the journey of the creative process of painting, and he hopes that his paintings can enrich the lives and spaces of the people who acquire them.
